loveA deeper look into the concept of love soulmates // are they real?26.03.25 What is true love, the cambridge definition of true life is as follows: perfect romantic love between people. In my opinion, this definition just isn't sufficient to define a concept as deep as true love. Most people will have a different definition of true love since it's such a complex thing to think of, there is no set definition of true love in my opinion, It could be described as, loving someone more than yourself, having a sense of need for someone, craving someone to the point it drives you mad, the list could go on. I believe that true love is commitment—the ability to commit to someone for the rest of your life. Without commitment, there is nothing; you can’t enter a relationship without fully committing to it. There is a common pattern among long-lasting marriages, and that pattern is commitment. When you're with someone for a long time, you begin to notice flaws—flaws that may make you reconsider what you've built. Marriages last not just because of love, but because of commitment. Love tends to dissipate the longer you are together. You’re no longer in the honeymoon stage where you want to spend every waking second with your significant other. This doesn’t mean you’ve fallen out of love; rather, it’s because you’ve spent so much time together. Humans naturally need time alone; it’s part of our genetic makeup, and you can’t change that. Being committed to someone even after the initial excitement fades, and after you’ve seen their flaws, is what true love means to me. Commitment is demonstrated in how you stay with someone through arguments, imperfections, and the day-to-day challenges. It’s a sign that you truly care about that person. In conclusion, love isn’t just about feeling excited or tingly every time you see someone—it’s about being willing to put in the effort, even when things get tough. True love is sustained through the strength of commitment, and it’s through that commitment that lasting, meaningful relationships are built. |
